One Saturday a month starting from Saturday 16th March from 12-2pm, Laura Nowell will lead a series of workshops. This month, Laura will explore the art of letting go.
In this session we will work with the element of Air. Using longer held, floor based postures and props to support the journey, we’ll focus on stretching, opening and releasing the hips. By bringing awareness to this area, we will learn ways to let go of physical tension in the body, mental tension in the mind and emotional tension in the heart.
With the body and breath as our teachers we will practice what is means to let go, and explore the spaciousness on the other side of release.
The session will integrate breathing techniques (pranayama) and offer a meditative approach throughout. With postures held for up to 10 minutes, Yin yoga works to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, bringing us back to a natural state relaxation and release.
This style of yoga requires a somatic approach, where we focus on the internal experience of the poses instead of outer form. When we move slowly and mindfully, we tap into the somatic nervous system and develop a deeper awareness of being.
